Biography
In September 2006, after many projects, Bread in Bradford was released on Sinoptic Music as ExP's first official solo album. Tracks are available from the shop section as are CDs. ITunes and Napster have the full album for download as well
In February 2007, Freyed Knot was formed, the 7-piece hiphop/funk band, with emceeing from ExP and Bradford's finest, JND, alongside some of Bradford's best musicians. This led to the release of their debut album "That Bradfunk" (also on Sinoptic Music) in January 2008.
In early 2008 ExP also began a project with the multi-talented Imranimal from Huddersfield hiphop group The Shedmen. "3rd Party" features ExP and Imranimal on each track, with a special guest being the 3rd party. Recording is currently in process and the first album "Fire and Theft" should be available from Sinoptic Music in 2009. Guests confirmed include; Dr Crobe, Jack Flash, Addverse, Kolaps, Jimmy Crackstar, JND, DJ Sum1 and many more.,
Along with a second Freyed Knot album in the works, 2009 TBC, and the Third Party debut, ExP has announced plans to release his second album currently titled "The Ella Fitzgerald Songbook", featuring melody samples comprised entirely of Ella Fitzgerald songs. Production and recording is currently underway with this project and a 2009 release date has been penciled in by Sinoptic Music.
As well as his solo, group and band work, ExP's work on Sinoptic Music will include releasing material by JND (The album "Working Classics" is expected 2009) and Andy Virus (current project TBC). There were also plans for a mixtape to be released by long-term friend and colleague Dave "BMC" Atkin but he unfortunately took his own life on the 1st May 2008. A track dedicated to his passing is available on this Facebook page entitled "BMC" which features one of the last beats he made before his untimely death.
Outside of his work with Sinoptic Music, ExP is working with Pipeline Productions (CEO Philip "Phillibusta" Charles) and Artworks to provide young people with opportunities and insight through the medium of hiphop. In workshops, young people are introduced to the basics of lyric writing and the nature of its structure. Through mentoring work, young people who are already interested in hiphop are given the opportunity to record, speak to ExP on a frequent basis for advice and work towards releasing their own material and self-marketing/promotion. One such artist is Tapestry (Click Here for his Myspace) who has shown massive promise since first getting involved with Pipeline Productions.
